My first course completed:

Google Analytics for beginners:

I just did the Google Analytics form beginners and I’m really happy with my learning and knowing that now I’m not wasting time analyzing things that are not worth it.

The course starts with a simple introduction of questions that you need to know to understand all the processes of data analysis.

  1. Who are my users?
  2. Where are my users coming from?
  3. What actions are my users taking?
  4. What are the results of all those users' actions?

So when analyzing data we have all the numbers and metrics in front of us, but we want to know the story that all numbers are telling us. So we need to understand the HOW? that it´s between our investment and our results. What is happening between those numbers?

Exist a priority order at the administration level.

Account > Property > View

It´s a good choice if we put our subdomains with our domain because we can analyze data crossing information. If we don´t do that we can cross data…

It´s important to create 3 Views. One for testing (Test view), one for backup data (backup view), and one for the real business view (Master view).

So, now entering to Data Analysis:

Don´t waste your time analyzing the data in the real-time report. You have to make a decision looking at all the informatión and not just the just now users' activity. The most important function of the Real-time reports it´s to try and see if the Conversions, events, and tracking is working correctly. We can do a lot of tests to see if it´s working correctly. Also this test it´s a must to do them on a Test view. So then if it´s working we can actually do in on the normal data view of the business.

The report that we are going to use to analyze data and as I mentioned before this is the reports in where we can answer the 4 main questions as a data analyzer.

Audience report: Who are my users?
Acquisition report: Where are my users coming from?
Behavior report: What actions are my users taking?
Conversions reports: What are the results of all those users’ actions?

Probably de acquisition report it’s the most problematic and where we need to work more to have it correctly set.

Because the sources and mediums of traffic are very messy as default. So we need to order that and do some customization to that Report to use it more easily.

And another thing is the UTM (Urchin Tracking Module), we need to track all the external traffic that it´s coming to our website. So for Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Bings ads, Referral traffic, email campaign, etc… we need to create a UTM with parameters to track that information. Really important to track the marketing campaigns and see the results to understand the complete story that data is telling us.

Event tracking and conversion tracking:

You will learn how to track all the events and conversion on the site web. How to install the tracking code correctly on your site. This is probably one of the more important things in Google Analytics tracking. Tracking purchases lead generated and other KPI´s that also are important for the business.

Conclusion about the course:

The course that I did was for beginners in google analytics but it´s so complete that it´s like a professional course. I do other courses about Google Analytics and this is by far the most complete and rich in content to learn about this amazing tool called Google Analytics.

Another positive thing about this course is that it´s not just theoretical learning, it´s also practical because you are going to work with a Google Demo Account so you don´t need an own Site web to practice. You can practice everything you want on that account.

Instructor Chris Mercer knows a lot!!!!!!!!! And his explanations are so good, good speed, a lot of details explanation, I just can say thank you for the knowledge that it´s sharing with me and all the other people doing the mini degree.

This first course is a real killer course, if you are a beginner you are going to learn a lot of PRO TIPS that change the game of data analytics users. I just can´t wait to do all the other courses on the mini degree. I’m planning to do other mini degrees at CXL institute too. So consider doing one of these mini degrees they have a lot to add to your knowledge and professional career.
